The 14-day trial

From the day you register you have every feature of Basic for 14 days. No credit card is needed, and nothing is charged automatically when the trial ends.

After the trial

Nothing you have built is deleted. If you do not start Basic, your account is on Free, at no charge.

You can: open and search your assignments, glossaries and term library, export everything, view and print the live sheet, use practice mode, and add or edit terms by hand.
You cannot: create new assignments or projects, upload material, or generate (glossaries, document summaries, background briefs, draft translations, "Ask the AI").
You can start Basic at any time from Settings → "Plan & billing".

Referring a colleague earns a discount

You can invite colleagues from Settings. When one of them moves to a paid plan, one of your months becomes half price (¥990) and their first month is half price too. There is no limit on how many.

The reward is earned when the person you invited completes their first payment, not when they register.
You can only refer someone new to TerpPrep. An address that already has an account - or had one in the past - cannot be invited.
Discounts stack in sequence, never in the same month. Anything earned while your plan is already free is not lost; it applies once the free period ends.

Fair-use ceilings

Basic is meant to be used without counting assignments, but it is not built for one account to use without limit. These are the ceilings in force now - the table reads the application's own settings, so it cannot disagree with what the app enforces.

One draft translation can be at most 100,000 characters - a ceiling that does not depend on the plan; split a file larger than that. The cycle is a month from the day you signed up, not a calendar month. When a ceiling is reached the screen says so, and gives the date it resets.

Cancellation and your data

Cancelling deletes nothing. You return to Free, and the glossary library and assignments you have built stay exactly as they are. Reading, searching and exporting remain available with no time limit. Creating new assignments and generating pause until you start Basic again.

Cancel from Settings → "Plan & billing" → "Manage payment", at any time.
Paid features remain available until the end of the current period.
Refunds are not prorated by day or month, and as a digital service there are no returns.
The glossary library exports in full to CSV whenever you want. The data is yours.

FAQ

Is anything held back during the trial?

No. You have every feature of Basic. A trial that ends without the real value ever being seen is not a trial.

Am I charged automatically when the trial ends?

No. With no card registered nothing is charged, and the account moves to Free. Existing assignments and your glossary library stay readable, searchable, editable by hand and exportable.

Does deleting an assignment free a slot?

No. What is counted is how many you created in the cycle, not how many you keep (there is no limit on keeping them). Archiving behaves the same way.

Is there annual billing?

Monthly only at present. Annual billing is under consideration.

Can I get a receipt or invoice?

You can download them yourself. Settings → "Plan & billing" → "Manage payment" lists every past charge with its invoice and receipt as PDFs. A receipt is also emailed to you on each payment.

To change the name they are addressed to, use the billing details on the same screen — a trading name or company name, if that is what you file expenses under. It applies to documents issued after the change (for one already issued, contact us).

Can you issue a Japanese qualified invoice (インボイス)?

No. TerpPrep is run by a tax-exempt sole proprietor who is not registered as a qualified invoice issuer. Invoices and receipts are available from "Manage payment", but they are not qualified invoices (see the Japanese commercial transactions notice).

How do I pay?

Credit card only (processor: Stripe). TerpPrep does not hold your card details.
